Human Services and Supportive Housing Guidelines

Mission: The Sundance Family Foundation supports and strengthens family stability worldwide.

The Sundance Family Foundation will make grants to 501(c)(3) organizations that support family stability through Human Services or Supportive Housing projects. Grants are likely to range from $15,000 to $35,000.

Sundance Family Foundation is most interested in programs that create systemic change, sustainable improvement and/or Social Entrepreneurship (click here).

Supportive Housing – Innovative services that help families prevent homelessness, especially programs that nurture families to move toward self-sufficiency.

Human Services (by invitation only) – Healing and preventative work in the areas of Mental Health, Wellness and Addiction. The Foundation is especially interested in supporting programs in which two or more family members (including children) participate, or programs that are focused on parent education.

Geographic Parameter

The Sundance Family Foundation will focus their giving to organizations whose programming benefits the residents of the following Minnesota and Wisconsin counties: Hennepin, Ramsey, Washington, Chisago, Polk and St. Croix.

Proposals must be presented by 501(c)(3) organizations.

Priorities Within the Above Areas

The Sundance Family Foundations will give priority to proposals that contain some or all of the following characteristics:

  • Efficient projects where Sundance Family Foundation grants would leverage additional funding or volunteers.
  • Collaborative projects, as well as organizational partnerships that encourage growth and build the capacity of young organizations.
  • Projects that stress inclusivity, that promote leadership from within, and that work in partnership with their beneficiaries to improve and empower their lives.
  • Projects that intend to impact family stability directly, and serve families for whom other resources are unsubstantial or are unavailable.

Funding Parameters

Sundance Family Foundation does NOT fund the following types of projects:

  • Individuals
  • Scholarships or Fellowships
  • Endowments
  • Capital Funding in the Human Services and Supportive Housing areas (except by invitation)
  • Capital support for International projects should not make up more than one-half of the project budget
  • General operating support (except by invitation)

NOTE - All applications to the Sundance Family Foundation will also be considered for funding by the Sundance Pay It Forward Foundation. One completed proposal packet serves as an application to both foundations, and granting decisions for both foundations will be announced on the same schedule.
